Although there is an option to buy starfish with real money you will find that you can earn enough currency on your runs to pay for power-ups straight away. For example, you should easily be able to earn 1,000 starfish in your first three runs.
This purple spotted power-up will attract starfish that are close to you for several seconds. You will not be invincible when this power-up has been activated and when your character blinks it is to indicate that it will be returning to normal. At the Shop menu you can extend the time you have the Happy Whale power-up, this starts at 500 starfish.
This power-up is shaped like a toxic yellow drum and will transform Moby into a mutant two-headed whale for several seconds and enable to go through anything in his path. When you pick up the red mist looking power up in the water you will be able to speed up for several seconds and go through obstacles. Whenever you come across nets that are trying to capture you look for the open hole in them, this is usually found at the top or in the middle of the netting. To be able to continue the game you will need to get through it.
If you are faced with a missle or run into a net this power-up will protect you, when it is used the shield will automatically disappear and Moby will be unaffected. You can buy more bubble shield power-ups at the Shop menu for 500 starfish.
These can be found scatterered throughout each stage and will clear the screen for the next few feet when used. They are particularly useful for clearing ships, helicopters and any other obstacles that get in your way. You cannot buy seahorse power-ups so make sure you pick them up as soon as you see them.
When you get this power-up you will gain an additional heart which can be used to continue your run when you hit a net or some other object. To use it just tap the heart icon at the bottom of the screen when your run has come to an end and a Zen starfish will appear and clear the screen allowing you to continue.
