It means it corrupted data delete it start over youve GOT NO CHOICE
It CAN be corrupted, but thats not always the case. I've had this problem one or 2 times and it was because the game had some dust on it. Make sure your game and/or ds doesnt have dust on/in it by blowing into the ds game slot and blowing the game itself. If that doesnt work then yes delete the save by pressing up, select, and b on the title screen showing the version mascot.
I too have had the same problem and don't I can't even load my game:(
Hi, I'm posting this specifically for others who stumble across this issue (as I did) and still lack any solid information on to how to remedy it. If the cartridge appears un-damaged, recognizes the game but will not even load to the title screen without displaying this error message, it's a connection issue and CAN possibly be fixed WITHOUT erasure of any data.
I've just had this occur with a pre-owned copy of Pokemon White 2- I would turn on the DS, click on the icon saying the game's name.. But be faced with a blue screen and this message (without so much as the nintendo logo or even the opening credits) and it happened on multiple DS systems with only this cartridge, so I looked up the issue to see if i'd definitely have to take it back (since I obviously didn't care about the existing save data).
The most concrete evidence that anyone had ever managed to remedy it, was "I licked it and it worked".
I did not lick my cartridge but first tried cleaning it thoroughly and blowing into both the slot on the DS and the cartridge many times.. However this (on it's own) did not make any difference. It wasn't until I neglected to DRY the gold parts of the cartridge (therefore creating a similar condition to licking) that it actually WORKED.
My guess, because of this, is it's a connection issue with the gold metal being scratched.. So a tiny amount of moisture will actually seal the minuscule, hairline gap that is causing the problem.
(note; I would not advise sticking too much liquid into an electrical device, do not soak it)
It was a rush to the title screen on my first attempt- twice it cut back to the message "save data could not be accessed" halfway through the opening credits or when trying to access the save data/ start a new game, but each time it did this, I would simply remove the cartridge, switch off the device and apply another small amount of water to the gold part, and it has always made the game work again for me (although.. For varying amounts of time)
I have even gotten the previous save file to load on my third attempt now and have played without hitch for more than half an hour, testing the save feature at random intervals (since I've seen others mention it happens specifically while saving) and even closing the DS down and re-opening it... But it seems the issue has been fixed for me now, to a level at which the game can actually be played.
Hopefully this new information helps somebody! Especially those who have a lot to lose
Best way to clean is not blowing on it but using isopropyl alcohol on a Q-tip and gently clean the gold contacts. Make sure it's not a lot, just enough to clean it, let dry and then try it.
OMG that happened to me! I just could not fix it no matter what I did... It happened after I moved! Maybe dust got into it...
Same thing happened to me. I opened up the cartridge and the motherboard had blue specks. I've seen corrosion similar to this on a gameboy motherboard and the guy in the video called it corrosion. That was the issue troubleshooted then.
I got some vinegar and a cotton bud and went over everything, I started with the blue specks and worked by way down to the gold connecters and it's worked amazingly since then.
It's much faster and reliable than it was before and it took 5 minutes tops.
Id still recommend isopropyl alcohol over vinegar but it was a super easy fix.
After this happened to me, I did lick my cartridge but was completely unable to save afterwards.
I tried a couple of things on my pre-owned game that I bought recently:
1. Blowing into the cartridge, which only worked until I got to the Menu screen with the save file, new game, mystery gift, etc.
2. I used a pencil eraser on the gold contacts of the cart, which actually worked.
After that I looked into the save file that the previous owner forgot to delete, and decided to wipe it as the person didn't even get as far as getting the first Gym Badge, and literally had one Pokemon in his party: his starter Pokemon, Oshawott. None in his PC Boxes, either.
Had an old copy of soul silver CIB that I got from a guy for 20$ off of Facebook tested it, and it was authentic but ran into the exact same issue. Luckily, with a bit of love and a lot of isopropyl alcohol and some scrubbing (which hurt my soul) everything worked fine! No issues with accessing the old save files, and the whole game was fine! Played for 3 hours.

I folded up a little strip of paper and placed it on the sticker side says of my soul silver cartridge before inserting the cartridge into my DS. Took me a couple of attempts but the little bit of pressure against gold contacts got my game working again.
