building your own apartment

When I build my apartment's I use the correct door's and I put in the cheat "changelotzoning apartmentbase". A box comes up and says Ther is an invalid apartment on this lot. To fix it, you can revert the lot zoning back to residential and then correct the architecture of your apartments. If I leave as it is I cannot move any of my sims in. It shows there is no apartments. What am I doing wrong Please Help. Thank you

Try to enter the cheat code before you start building the apartments. It works well for me. Good luck...

THAT ANSWER ISN'T GOOD AT ALL AS IF WE HAVE ALREADY MADE OUR APARTMENTS WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DO???
Guest answered:

apparently it is because the doors are the wrong way round or the windows, or the wrong doors used. Some of mine work and some dont, and to fix it I have searched on the web which is very useful. Try this: Enter the cheat before building anything 'changelotzoning apartmentbase'
build your apartments and see what happens. If that doesn't work, then I'm sorry but i can't help you.

Same I'm having the same problem!! What architecture should you use!?

Guest answered:

Okay guys: Not only do you need to use the right doors but you need to have, for each apartment:
-The kitchens need to have at least one counter, a stove, and a refrigerator.
-At least one bathroom needs to be set up with one toilet, a sink, and a shower/tub.
-The apartment door is the only door leading in and out of the apartment.

Guest answered:

Im having the same problem but it wont let me select the apartment door that is causing the problem, even though I don't have a family moved in. The door is facing the right way and everything too, so idk
