Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX Walkthrough and Guide

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX is a 2020 remake of the 2005 video games Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team and Red Rescue Team. It is part of the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series and includes new features not seen in the originals such as mega evolution, autosave, and auto-mode. You play the role of a human who has turned into one of 16 possible Pokemon, the one which you become is determined by the personality quiz you take at the beginning of the game. You then pick a partner Pokemon from the same list and proceed to complete the job applications that can be found on the bulletin board, requested by mail, or initiated through story events, and include rescuing Pokemon, delivering items, and escorting clients. Successfully completing these missions which take part in dungeons will earn you a reward and Rescue Points, which increase a team's rank. Check out our Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX Walkthrough and Guide to get help in the game.

Your First Pokemon

After you have chosen from one of the 16 starter Pokemon (Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Charmander, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Chikorita, Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, Pikachu, Eevee, Machop, Cubone, Psyduck, Meowth, and Skitty) you will be asked to pick your first teammate from the remaining 15 Pokemon. Early in the game you will encounter dungeons that are strong against Grass types so it is recommended that you choose a Water and a Fire type as your first Pokemon.

Exploring Dungeons

The map of a dungeon will be revealed on the left side of the screen as you explore. The blue dots you see on the map are items and objectives, wheras red dots indicate oncoming enemies. It is important that you make sure you keep an eye on the red dots to avoid getting attacked while in a vulnerable state.

Countdown

There is a countdown so you only have a limited amount of time in each dungeon to complete your mission so you need to be as quick as possible because if you run out of time you will lose any weapons or items you have on you. Although pressing down on the B button will make your team run faster it will also make your hunger gauge deplete quicker so make sure you use it wisely.

Hunger Gauge

Exploring the dungeons trying to complete the missions uses energy, the orange circle next to your Pokemon's HP in the upper right hand corner is the Belly stat and indicates how much energy you have remaining. This gauge will deplete with each step the leader takes and will deplete faster if you decide to run through a dungeon instead of walking. If the leader's belly is empty, the Pokemon will lose HP with each step it takes. To help avoid this from happening you should always store up plenty of food for your Pokemon to eat while in the field before undertake a mission. You can purchase food from the green Kecleon in Pokemon Square.

Increase your Pokemon's Attack Power

In Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX you can Link your attacks together to make them stronger by talking to the Gulpin in Pokemon Square. When you Link your attacks together the attack power of your Pokemon will be increased as they will be using two moves at the same time when they attack. To Link an attack cost money and will also deplete more of your hunger guage than usual.

Deposit Money at the Bank

Make sure you deposit your money in the Falicity Bank in the Pokemon Square before you begin another mission because if you faint in a dungeon all of the money you have on you will disappear. It is important that you try to save as much money as possible as you will want to purchase the costly Reviver Seeds which will enable you to revive fallen team members.

Store your Items

If you faint while in a dungeon you will lose all the items you have on you. Make sure before you head off on a mission that you take stock of your inventory and try to bring only the essentials with you. Everything else that you don't take with you can be stored with the Kangaskhan in the Pokemon Square.

Train in the Dojo

There are two ways in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX in which you can level up your Pokemon. You can either play through various dungeons or train at the Dojo. Training at the Dojo is the easier of the two ways to grind and in order to do so you you need to talk to a Mukuhita, you can find one on the very South end of Pokemon Square. Participating in the 'Tricks of the Trade' will enable you to do tutorials that will give you the opportunity to earn helpful healing items.

Recruit Pokemon

You must take down the first boss in order to be able to recruit other Pokemon in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX. To achieve this you and your teammate will need to be strong which will mean training at Makuhita's Dojo and bringing plenty or restorative items with you on your missions.
