Tom Clancy's The Division 2 is a tactical shooter played from a third-person perspective. The story takes place 7 months after the events of the Dollar Flu which took place in the winter in New York City. The deadly virus has now spread to Washington D.C. which is on the brink of collapse with lawlessness and instability threatening to take over as a civil war between survivors who have formed a resistance movement and villainous bands of marauders has broken out. The Division, a unit of civilian sleeper agents are the last line of defense in saving the nation's capitol.
Crates and Suitcases
Keep an eye out for crates and suitcases while you are wandering around the desolate streets of Washington D.C. as there is a good possibility they will either contain new equipment than can either be sold or scrapped, or materials you can turn into Project Desks.
Grenades
When you encounter a group of enemies that are close-knit the best strategy is to lob a grenade or Seeker Mine amongst them. The enemies will not be alerted and will not have time to react, it also enables you to avoid a prolonged shootout.
Switch Weapons and Gear
Even if you like a particular weapon you should always look to switch to a newer one as soon as you are able to as it will be a vast improvement to the older weapon you were using. Remember also that Exotic gear can be upgraded at Crafting stations whereas the white/green rarity cannot, this means it is not worth hanging onto. Check out our Exotic Weapons Guide to lean how to get these weapons in The Division 2.
Unwanted Items
Make sure that you talk to the Project officer at any Settlement before you get rid of any unwanted items. You can mark unwanted items by pressing V in the inventory menu and you can donate them via the Project menu.
Use your skills
Don't be afraid to use your skills whenever you can as outside of their cooldown you have unlimited use of them. Take advantage of the skills that suit your playstyle.
Skill Cooldowns
Keep an eye on your skill cooldowns by turning on 'Numeric Skill Cooldowns' as this will give you an accurate representation of when your skills are next live. Check out our Best Skills page for a guide on the different skills in The Division 2.
Unlock Safehouses
Make sure you unlock Safehouses whenever you enter a new area as they reveal the locations for each of the SHC tech caches in that area.
Use Waypoints
You can bring up a waypoint on your HUD by clicking on any mission, side mission, or tech cache. It will appear as an orange line which you can follow to get to your destination.
Control Point
Whenever you take over a Control Point remember to go to the Supply Room each one has to pick up the loot that will be inside.
Field Proficiency Cache
Make sure you open the Field Proficiency Cache you will occassionally pick up. These caches give out 2 random items, and they can be Gear Set, High-End items or Exotic items.
Extra Bullet
If you manually reload the weapon you are using you will get an extra bullet in the chamber.
Full Ammo Clip
Doing a dodge roll can cancel the reload animation, and with some weapons if you get the timing right can give you a full clip of ammo. To perform a dodge roll you double tap the cover button.
Moving Around Corners
Turn on the 'Move Around Cover Corner With Button Press' selection at the 'Options' menu to prevent you from accidentally moving around a corner while in cover.
Unlock Blueprints
Projects in Settlements will earn you blueprints which need to crafted separately. Once the crafting project has been completed for the Settlement return to the White House crafting station with the blueprint to make the item before taking on another project. Check out our What are Settlements page to find out more about getting bluebrints from them.
Crafting Weapons and Armour
Remember that the weapons and armour that you make will be made to your crafting level, which is based on your Agent level.
Mods
Once a mod has been unlocked it is yours forever and can be used across any number of eligible weapons. All mods will have static rolls. Check out our How to get Mods page to learn how you can customise your weapons.
Dark Zone perks
These are allocated via the Dark Zone officer so make sure you visit them often as you progress through Dark Zone levels to allocate any redeemable perks. Check out our What are Dark Zones page to find out more about this feature in The Division 2.
