Chapter 05: Farming for Farmers
This is the part of the guide where we address farming-related issues and discuss ways to make your farming more productive and profitable.
Farmville is, first and foremost, a game about farm simulation, so the value of being well-grounded in the basic and the advanced strategies of farming in the game should be obvious. Much of the process here comes with experience, and as you will be doing most of these tasks over and over again without thinking about them, once they become automatic, you will find that applying the advanced farming strategies is really where your interest will concentrate when the game changes, and new crops and recipes are added.
The fact that you will get very good at quickly mastering and leveraging these new new elements is barely worth noting since it is a byproduct of play -- the fact that you will develop a sense for which of the new additions to the game are actually important and, more to the point, begin to prioritize your use of these is probably worth noting. Remember that from a value judgment approach, you should be giving more weight to any crop that can potentially play into the crafting system later than crops that are not likely to.
As a general rule, when you are planning out your farm and, when you expand it, setting aside 75% of the land area that you control and dedicating that 75% to crop plots is not just a good idea, it is the very basis for the success that most top-level players enjoy. Logic may suggest that everything that you do early in the game should be oriented towards reaching the conditions that are required to obtain the largest amount of land for your farm that the game allows -- but the reality here is that effectively using what you have is always a more important consideration.
