#9 - Volcanion

And here we go, the first of five Legendary / Mythical Pokemon to be ranked in our list. We begin with Volcanion at the ninth spot on your list, and we think it's appropriate for what it has to offer. Volcanion was one of the worst kept secrets for the longest while, and it felt like the Pokemon Company was intentionally holding out until the last hour to finally release it to the world. This gave everyone, outside of hackers, an extended hype about what looked like a very good Pokemon. However, once it was released, players found that Volcanion wasn't as great as it once seemed, especially in the competitive world. It's still a fabulous Pokemon, but if you're into playing competitively, you know that this thing is just WAY TOO SLOW to be successful in most regards.

As for how to run Volcanion, there is a number of ways between using the Assault Vest, Choice Specs, Choice Band, and Choice Scarfs. But our favorite, by far, is the Weakness Policy. Why is it our favorite you may ask, well, because it goes so perfectly with Flame Charge. One your first move, you can use Flame Charge with Volcanion, tank a super effective hit, and then you have a much better chance at sweeping opposing teams with the power it possesses. Timid or Hasty Nature work best with this set, that includes running maximum Effort Values in both Speed and Special Attack. As for its other three moves, we love to run STAB Steam Eruption and Fire Blast, along with Earth Power for those pesky Electric Types.

With this moveset spread, Volcanion can be a very tough defeat for any opponent. No doubt about it.
