In Mario Kart 8 there are 30 playable characters, with various weight classes. 9 of these characters are newcomers to the Mario Kart series. However in the latest update, 2 DLC packs are now available, including 6 new characters; Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach, Link, Villager, Isabelle & Dry Bowser.
